Issue: How long does it take to give a MIDSA?
Solution: Times vary widely. We will give estimates for incarcerated adult males, who take the longest and outpatient juvenile males, who take the least time. For the Basic Inventory, which includes most of the scales, antisocial history, lifetime sexual contact, offense planning, and the child molestation sections, 50 percent of incarcerated adult respondents are done in 1 1/2 hours and 75 percent finish in 2 hours. For the complete MIDSA, 50 percent of adult respondents are done in less than 4 hours, and 75 percent finish in 4 1/2 hours. For juvenile outpatients taking the Basic Inventory, 50 percent complete the assessment in one hour and 75 percent finish in less than one and one/quarter hour. Of those who take the full assessment 50 percent finish in less than 2 hours and 75 percent are done in 2 and ½ hours. The MIDSA is designed so that you can give it in multiple small or one long session, as you see fit.
